Representative Olsen Lays out Goals

The following editorial appeared in the Naperville Sun on Sunday, August 21:

As Illinois' newest state representative, I would like to introduce myself to the people of the 81st District, which includes much of southeast Naperville. It was my great honor to be sworn into office on Aug. 3 to fill the seat vacated by former Rep. Ron Sandack.

My first priority is shaping my legislative agenda to effectively represent our district and lead important reforms for our state. As a proud product of our local public schools and the University of Illinois, I am thrilled to have already been assigned to serve on three key House education committees that deal with important issues such as college access/affordability, K-12 curriculum policies, and the critical issue of fair and equitable funding for schools. In addition, pension reform and improving Illinois' business climate are also priorities.

In our district, I have already hosted two community outreach events and have three more events planned for the coming weeks. Information about all of these free events can be found on my legislative website,

I am also currently a trustee and vice chairman of the College of DuPage Board, where I am helping to lead the turnaround of this important community institution. Previously, I served on the Downers Grove Village Council from 2013-16. I have a professional background as an ethics and compliance officer in the commodities trading industry.

I look forward to being your voice in Springfield, and welcome your thoughts and suggestions. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at 630-737-0504.
