Olsen Bill that Streamlines IL School Code Sent to Governor

State Representative David S. Olsen (R-Downers Grove) has passed legislation in the Illinois House that removes obsolete and duplicative language and streamlines the Illinois School Code.

SB 1486 is an initiative of the ISBE and is part of an ongoing effort to amend or repeal outdated or problematic provisions of the Illinois School Code. “I was pleased to work with the ISBE on this clean-up bill which removes unnecessary or duplicative sections of the School Code,” said Olsen. “While these changes are minor in scope, they represent small steps in ensuring our statutes are easier to understand and are less ambiguous.”

House approval of SB 1486 was 116-1, and the bill was previously approved in the Senate in a 52-0 vote, where State Senator Chuck Weaver (R-Peoria) sponsored the bill. With House and Senate approval completed, SB 1486 now moves to the desk of Governor Bruce Rauner for his signature.
