Today We Honor Our Veterans and Those Who Currently Serve

Today, people across the nation will pause to observe Veterans Day. It is a day of remembrance for those made the decision to serve their country and who have taken steps to defend the freedoms we enjoy.

Today we also honor all service men and women who continue to defend the liberties proclaimed by our Founding Fathers in the Declaration of Independence and through the United States Constitution. It is important that we not only recognize their service; but also respect their devotion to duty.

For more than 200 years, America’s Armed Forces have been our surest guarantee that Freedom will continue to be abundant in the United States. From the soldiers who fought bravely during the American Revolution to the men and women of today’s Armed Forces, these heroes have responded bravely to this nation’s call to duty. On the battlefield and in their assurance or readiness, they allow all of us to rest peacefully, knowing with certainty that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are protected gifts for Americans.

Today we honor moms and dads, sons and daughters, sisters, brothers, aunts and uncles, friends, co-workers and neighbors.

America has been blessed and honored with Veterans who have given everything to ensure that we have the freedom to fully enjoy life. The men and women who have made this sacrifice are no less committed to protecting our nation than the men who signed the Declaration of Independence. So today, and every day, take a moment to pause and reflect on just what has been given on your behalf, so that freedom could ring across this great land.
